Lead User Interface Designer

Job Description

The User Interface Designer will design the look and feel of our desktop, web, and mobile software products. They will establish design standards for all of our products, and innovate design for new products and features. This is a small and highly collaborative team, and we are looking for an all-rounder who has chops in both visual and UI design. Contract or permanent - up for discussion, but definitely need a solid 3-4 month commitment up front.

IMPORTANT: You must currently be legally allowed to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor visa applications.
Responsibilities:

* Leading design on projects from initial explorations to final design deliverables.
* Develop visual UI standards, and create a UI Style Guide. Create a UI framework that allows for scalability as new features or service offerings arise.
* Design lo to hi fidelity wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes.
* Take 'big picture' user flows and functional requirements and translate them into graphical user interface mock-ups and prototypes
* Create original icons and other graphic elements for a wide range of functions and concepts.
* Collaborate with engineers to produce a highly polished final product.
* Work with Product Management and Marketing to evaluate and develop product ideas for a platform.
* Communicating design strategy and rationale to key stakeholders.
* Deliver production-ready final designs to developers

Desired Skills & Experience

* 2+ years in UI, UX, or Visual Design for web or software companies.
* Strong visual and UI design skills and a fanatical attention to detail.
* Can deliver multiple stylistic approaches to a problem, accept critique, and iterate on designs.
* Strong foundation in graphic and visual design to develop styles, color palettes, and typography.
* Have superb graphic and information design skills
* Have a clean, elegant, and clutter-free design aesthetic.
* Deep intuition for visual hierarchy and ability to take complex data and represent them in streamlined graphical formats
* Strong ability to recognize and adopt patterns from popular and commonly used UI. Practical “let’s not re-invent the wheel” approach to problem solving
* Intimate knowledge of platform conventions for web, desktop, and mobile
* Solid technical understanding of key platforms (HTML/CSS/JavaScript).
* Great communication skills and proven ability to work with cross-functional teams.
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design, or other related field.

Tools

* Experience with Axure is a big plus but other wire-framing tools such as Omnigraffle also good. Expert with Photoshop, Illustrator.
